Static
My thesis, entitled “Static”, is a dramatic short film set in the near future, in which a new technology, Memora, allows a young, anxious man, Jay, to search for closure following the guilt of a car accident that led to the death of his best friend, Bel. Under the influence of this new technology, in a subdued state, Jay visits key moments in his past friendship with Bel. The major themes explored in “Static” include: the intersection of memory and relationships, technology, trauma, and human interactions with artificial life. I am thinking through certain questions: in the near future, how could we access our memories? How do we use memory to build relationships? How does skewed memory affect relationships?

The Black Artist
Building upon my previous work, "The Black in the White", this video essay was an exploration of my journey as a Black video artist, compared to that of my peer, Auset Luxor, a Black photographer. Our work challenges the camera, its original intentions, and makes bodies of colour the subject of the camera. As the definition of the Black body changes, our work as artists influences and changes the landscape of the art world and allows different stories to be told.

Reel Time
Acting as camera aissistant, production assistant, and visual editor, I worked alongside my crew to create this walk through film history. Our goal was to create almost seamless transitions through film's major developments. Our film references summarize the introduction of sound, to colour, to digital recording, to expert sound design. From using film on a Bolex camera, to a Canon 5D, to a Canon C100, we successfully reached our goal.

SELAH
Selah is a Hebrew and Biblical word that is used in the book Pslams; it is mostly believed to be used for musical direction. In this video, written and directed by myself for Pickering Pentecostal Church, the protagonist is struggling to feel God's presence in his day to day life. From home to work and in between, he is trying to pair his anxieties with Bible verses that are meant to calm those who are anxious. It is only when he breaks status quo, and finds himself in the midst of God's creation, that he can feel his burdens lightening and truly begin to worship the Lord through song.
